Classical Jeep Safari With Spiti

Day 01: - Manali and Naggar

We will be guided in our trip by certified and locally experienced guides who know the trails and roads on the mountains like the back of their hand. Under their expert guidance we will see the historical sites, the wonderful vista and the spectacular village of nagger situated 12 kms by road from Manali. The roads are well maintained and the journey a treat for the astounding alpine scenery that flashes by the window of the car. Thereafter, we can get back for a hot refreshing and rejuvenating bath in the famous hot springs of Vashist that is said to wash away all sins and leave the body and soul clear and pristine. The high sulphur content of the water also gets rid of skin diseases and infections. We will be staying at the camp in Prini, where the staff will set up bonfires .Attractions of this day are: Kullu valley, the Hadimba Devi Mandir (temple)the Manu Maharishi Ashram, Club house, the temple of Shiva the Roerich art Gallery Gadhan Thekchokling Monastery the castle at Naggar, and Jatathsukh temple. For those of us who like thrill and adventure, they can paraglide at Halan Valley; fish at the Aut, Yoga and reiki streams and enjoy the benefits of ayurvedic massage at Vashist.

Day 02: Manali - Batal

We will drive to Batal, 100 km from Manali, mesmerized by the breathtaking views and glorious landscape that will greet us on our way. We will see the Rohtang La monastery, at an improbable height of 3980 meters. We will camp overnight at Batal in tents with bonfires and barbecues as usual and entertainment provided by the locals or participation from the group. Chandertal Lake, a short walk from Batal may also be visited if time permits.

Day 03: Batal - Kaza

After breakfast, we will drive 88 km from Batal to Kaza, winding through mountain roads, bypassing peaks, valleys and waterfalls and marveling at the ingenuity of man that had made a road through thje wilderness for the benefit of the later generations. Kunzum La, a monastery at 4558 meters is a place that will imprint itself in your memory forever by its simple beauty and captivating charm. We will the visit Kaza on our way back and enjoy the night in tenets with a merry fire to keep us company. Adventure sports like horse riding and yak riding will take place in Losar village, a short distance away.

Day 04: sightseeing in kaza

Kaza is the administrative headquarters of the sub division of Spiti and is filled with tourist attractions with a high deposit of petrol and diesel only a short while away. It is a problem to keep the fuels liquid in the depths of winter when everything is buried under snow. We may also visit the famous monastery at Kibber village and thereafter we will move to Yang Yud Gompa.

Day 05: Kaza - Sichling

On this day, we will drive 20 kms from Kaza to Sichling and indulge ourselves in the jungle safari. The road passes through the picturesque Pin valley and if we are lucky we may even see some of the local wildlife n the way. The slopes and forests are populated by deer, marmots, hares and other herbivores, and cheetahs and tigers as predators. The Pin Valley National Park will provide more opportunities for sightseeing and stay like boy scouts in tents and wrap ourselves warmly in sleeping bacgs, listening to the murmuring of the fire outside.

Day 06: Sichling - Tabo

Early morning, we will start moving to Tabo, 48 km from Sichling. On the way we will visit the Dhankar Gompa ,the most ancient and largest monastic complex in Spiti and has temples, chortens and Tabo Gompa that will astound and awe the tourist and leave him enthralled to the loveliness of the place. It is called the Ajanta of the Himalayas and it is a beautiful space for camping and having one of the best nights of our lives under the starry sky and chill winds blowing the flames of the bonfire in all directions with every gust. At Lalung gompa, the main attractions are: The Golden Temple, the Mabdala Temple, the Bodhisattva Maitreya Temple, the Dromton temple and the chamber of art relics and beautiful pictures which will remain engraved in our hearts forever more.

Day 07: Tabo - Nako

Start from Tabo to Nako, 69 kms from tabo. It is an authentic style of atrchitectural symmetry that is unique to the region with its unparelleld beauty with its Gompas, stucco images no the walls and murals. In nako village the main attractions are the monstic complex, the upper temple the small white temple and the footprint of Padmasambha

Day 08: Nako - Kalpa

Start from Tabo to Nako, 125 kms to Kalpa where the Satluj and Spiti rivers confluence will leave you spellbound. The perfect place for contemplating the majesty of the Himalayas ands slow appreciation of the beautiful scenery will occupy our day and refresh our minds from the mundane stress day to ay existence at our crowded cities. There is a jeep safari for adventure lovers and the evening will be spent around the bonfire. We will also see the Kinnaur Kailash, with a 70 meter Shivling at the top o the mountain and and also we can see the plantation of Chilgoza.

Day 09: Kalpa -Sangla

We will drive 51 kms from Kalpa to Sangla pasing thorugh more natural beauty that will awe us with its sheer charm and vibrancy. The road goes through the Recong Peo, district headquarters of Kinaur. The road is widely populated and this is an excellent opportunity to interact with the local people and shop for souvenirs or gifts for the loved ones back home. The foremost visit of temples like; Chanadika Devi can be done. A must visit to Kamru village and fort.

Day 10: Sangla

Sangla is located on the banks of the Baspa River and provides a great location for adventure sports such as kayaking, rock climbing, trekking or bungee jumping. People more culturally inclined may visit the Chitkul village which houses some very interesting temples and monasteries. The proximity of temple and monasteries underlines the fact of the unity in diversity in India.

Day 11: Sangla -Sarahan

We will drive 92 kms from Sangla to Sarahan, moving thorugh the beautiful Kinnauri landscape and its huge variety is flora and fauna. The village of Sarahan is a must visit for it is one of the most ancient and unchanged villages n Himachal. There are some famous temples to visit for example: Raja Bushahr Palace Bhimakali Temple, and Usha Temple

Day 12: Sarahan- Shimla

A 184 km drive will bring us back to Shimla from Sarahan and we will be staying at Hotel East Bourne that has comfortable beds, thick blankets and hot showers to wash away the exhaustion and dirt of the mountains and come out sparkling like new. We will visit the Padam Palace at Rampur and also the Sri Sat Nahan temple and the famour sie for manufacture and creation of pashmina wool garmets.

Day 13: In Shimla

The summer capital of the British Raj, Shimla is a beautiful city whose quaint charm has not been lost through commercial exploitation and the growing needs of the tourism industry.There are various attractions which we will be visiting throughout. Overnight stay follows. We will explore The Institute of Advanced Studies, the historical complex with its many invaluable treasures, the State museum, Prospect Hill, Sankat Mochan temple, Jakhoo Hill, he mall and the Ridge.

Day 14: Departure via Kalka

We will be brought to Kalka station with heartfelt warmth and boarded on trains, carrying warm memories of beautiful Himachal Pradesh and exotic souvenirs. The memories will last a lifetime and will always be one the most cherished experiences of our lifetime. Take your onward journey.
